Happy Monday! I hope you had a nice summer weekend! We’ve had swim lessons and BBQ’s and play dates at the splash park so it’s been a fun week!
A friend of mine asked me to make a quilts for her kids. Her son who is about 8 requested an army themed quilt. Something warm to snuggle up with since they just moved to a colder climate (and cause the baby got one, the older two need one too!). Here is what I came up with.
Most of the fabric came from fabric.com, 2 of the prints came from 2 different sellers on etsy and the black binding is a moda bella solid from hidden yardage where I teach quilting. One of my favorite parts of designing a quilt is combining many prints and fabrics from different lines of fabric into one cohesive quilt that fits the person I am making it for and that way it really is one of a kind.
I free-motion quilted it with a meandering pattern on my home machine using a dark grey Aurifil thread. I also really like the pieced back quilts, even though they are a little more work, its like a double sided quilt – both sides are special!
This quilt measures 44 x 60.
