I am blown away that this video has touched so many people and I love seeing the projects you make from this tutorial! This is my Easy Crochet Baby Blanket – it’s super easy! See below for the written instructions and materials that I used!
Easy Crochet Baby Blanket
This is a fun and easy crochet baby blanket tutorial using 2 big balls of Bernat Baby Yarn in a bulky, chenille type yarn making it super soft and spongy but still light weight. A great texture for babies and this blanket is beginner friendly with all the steps shown for this simple crocheted blanket.
Make sure you get the big ball of yarn, its 300g, 10.5 oz, 258 yards, 234 m
11.5 mm crochet hook or P hook
WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS:
Slip knot and chain 42
4th chain from hook place 2 dc
skip a chain, 2 dc and continue along foundation chain
Once you reach the end, 1 dc in the last chain
Ch 3 and turn
1dc in first chain, skip 1 ch, 2 dc and repeat (the 2 dc should be in between the “v” stitches front the first row)
in the top chain on the end, place 1 dc. ch 3 and turn
When you run out of the first ball of yarn, tie the end of the 2nd ball together and continue crocheting… trim any ends that are sticking out.
Continue crocheting until 2nd ball is used up… be sure to finish on the end.
tie off end and weave in ends.
IF YOU WANT TO MAKE IT LARGER… make the foundation chain as long as you like, just make sure it is a multiple of 6.
Final blanket measure about 31 x 35.
Here is a tutorial to put a simple border on this blanket!

Melanie, I love this baby blanket pattern. Thank you for sharing a simple beginner pattern. I will be making more in the future. How long of a foundation chain would I need to make a lap quilt? Also how much yarn should I get? Thanks --- Becky Champion

Melanie, Love your crocheting tutorials. I'm a beginner, and I crocheted this beautiful baby blanket. Thanks to you, it is beautiful. I have a question about a beginner red ruffled scarf I was crocheting. I put it away for a while and then couldn't find the written pattern. Could you please try to send it to me? At jodyrs@yahoo.com
Thank You so much, Jody Smith
