Hey Everyone! Last week I was trying to decide which tutorial to film next. My plan was to do a crochet tutorial, but I was worried I wouldn’t get it done in time (crochet tutes take forever!). I was looking at my fabric and thought… Oh my goodness! I need to do a back to school tutorial! So that is how this pencil pouch idea came to me. Don’t worry, the crochet video is next! I have done a lot of zip pouches in the past, so I added a zipper tab to show you a little different technique.
Isn’t this fabric fab! I’m a huge Cotton and Steel Fan
This is a great pencil or pen pouch, but it would also be great for paint brushes, colored pencil or other longer items.
This zipper pouch tutorial shows you 1 way to add zipper tabs.

Happy Stitching!

My corners by the tabs are dented in, it's not flush with the side seams, any suggestions please. ...thanks

Thanks so much! This tutorial was perfect! I needed to make my daughter an oversized pencil bag and couldn't find one large enough in stores or online. This was sooo easy to follow! I love it!! I used nylon material liner inside to help stop any pen leaks etc. :) I'd post a photo I'm so proud of it but am not sure how to do that. Thanks again!

Hi, Your tutorials are the best ever. I just made my very first project, which is this pouch; and it came out perfect for someone who had not touched a sewing machine since childhood like me.
and I like your simple make up. makes your beauty comes out naturally.

The pink fabric with arrows is my favorite. I enjoy watching your tutorials & checking your blog. I am going to make a smaller version of the pencil case for a coin purse. Thanks for your instructions!
