Quilting Series Part 2: Piecing the Quilt Top

Thank you so much for sharing!

Hi there everyone!

Video 2 of my quilting series is up on YouTube!  I have gotten some great feedback about the first video, so this one is sure to deliver as well.  Loads of info at a comfortable pace.

Some of what we discuss in the video:

How to make a half square triangle (hst)
chain piecing
1/4 inch seam allowance
Helpful notions
Nesting seams together
Layout
Fabric organization
Assembly line tips for piecing quickly
And much more!

As promised, here is the entire quilt top for you to see.  This is meant to be a functional photo, so you can see and study how I did my placement and layout.  Glam shots will come later 😉

Here is the close up of this portion of the quilt so that you can see how it is put together.

Some helpful notions for this part of the quilting process!

Hi Melanie, I am a beginner quilter, so forgive me if this is a silly question? I have cut all my materials from fat quarters. I also have charm packs for the 5 in. square requiremwnts. In the video you show how to make the HST, but you didnt specify if they are to be cut from the 41/2 inch squares or from the 5 in squares? Im stopping at this point until I hear back because I dont want to ruin material. Could you please verify with me the specifics on that? I so appreciate your time,Thanks!
