I have a Mom, a Stepmom and a Mother-in-law and this year I decided to make as much of their gifts as possible. I was going to wait until next week to share gift number 1, but my Mother-in-law couldn’t help herself and opened the box yesterday, silly girl ;). She was home sick from work, so I’m glad it cheered her up!
What I liked about this pattern is that it challenged me on a few levels. It was a slightly different way to piece together the strips of fabric and this book shows how to machine bind the quilts and projects which was great for me to read a tutorial on how to do that. And they turned out great! A few spots I needed my seam ripper and some patience, but overall it was faster than hand stitching the back of the binding, especially for something like a potholder. For a quilt I spent hours and hours on, I may still hand stitch so that it looks as perfect as possible. I also added a loop so these can be hung and added to the kitchen as decoration and well as function.
Don’t forget Mother’s Day is this weekend, do something to make it a special day for Mom!
