Hi there! My name is Melanie and I’m so glad you’re here! I am the owner and operator of this website and I write all of the content. Although my mom – Mama Lisa – contributes occasionally too! Welcome to my site, Melanie Ham!
I took a beginning sewing class at Joann Fabrics back in 2007 and bought a sewing machine shortly after. I had a little extra time on my hands while I was finishing college and my husband had just joined the U.S. Army ;). I started sewing crafty stuff, just simple things, and then in 2010 I made my first quilt and have been obsessed ever since.
Around the same time, I learned to crochet while my husband was deployed since it was a craft I could travel with. I started a YouTube Channel in December of 2011 and it took off beyond my wildest dreams.
The best thing is that I can work from home and keep my family top priority. We now live in a suburb of Los Angeles where my husband and I own and operate HAMMR Productions, a service-disabled veteran-owned production company. We have been married 13 years and have 2 great kids who are 11 and 8.
Not only do I love DIY, Sewing, Quilting, Crochet, and basically all the crafty things – I am very interested in fitness and nutrition, cold brew coffee, gadgets, and tech, parenting my 2 beautiful kids, business development, personal development, home decorating, and organization.
Some businessy stats:
– Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History
– I have 900,000 YouTube subscribers and I upload crochet, sewing, quilting, DIY, and home decor-related videos each week with over 83 million lifetime views.
– Worked with many brands like Fiskars, Clover, Quiltfolk, Macy’s, Hallmark, Simplicity, Joann Fabrics, Michaels, and World Vision just to name a few.
-Present on Instagram, IG Stories, IGTV, Facebook, Twitter, and my newsletter CaliStitching which goes out to 100k subscribers twice a month. Current blog stats are available upon request.

Melanie's videos have been so helpful for me as I begin to find my love for crocheting. Saddened to hear of her passing and I hope her family and loved ones know that her impact is lasting and lots and lots of projects around the world have her touch on them :)

Hello, here I am I on an early Sunday morning going thru Melanie's videos. I first found Melanie on youtube during covid. She was a breath of fresh air. I have never sewn before and so I was searching for someone to help me. When I ran across Melanie, I felt like I had known her all my life. She made me feel comfortable and that I could sew and make things. Here it is almost 3 years later, and I still go to her video's first thing. I belong to a few sewing groups now and I always refer people to her site to walk them thru their sewing needs. Even though she is no longer here with us she is still in our hearts and on youtube. Thank you for leaving her videos out there because there are many of us that always....always come back to sew with her. I find myself turning on her videos as I sew "like sewing with a great friend". Thank you for sharing her story and Thank God for sharing her. She always brough sunshine on a cloudy day.

First of all, I send my heartfelt condolences for the loss of Melanie..what a lovely person she was. I just wanted you to know the difference Melanie has made in my life. I learned to make lap quilts from her youtube videos during Covid for the veterans that are in Hosparus care. Melanie was so reassuring that I could create a quilt that I have continued to make quilts and improve my skills. She was a gem..a bright light to us all. Thank you for leaving her videos up on Youtube! We are so sorry she is not with us, but so glad she is no longer in pain. Much love to her family.

Dear Ham family.. I am not sure if you look at these posts anymore but wanted to express my appreciation of Melanie’s work and her legacy. I have recently learned to crochet because of her videos and am currently making a blanket for my daughter. I have terminal cancer too (a different type than Melanie had) and am grateful for each gifted day until they run out. I’m sorry that you lost her but am glad you had her to love. God Bless you all and keep you safe. From Australia (her reach is wide!!)

Hello. Im making a hat and scarf for my MIL. My grandmother crocheted and quilted when I was a little girl. It inspired me to connect artistically as I've gotten older. I've been having trouble completing my projects, but out of the tutorials I've found, Melanie's have been the most helpful. She is patient and gentle in her videos, reminding me to relax and loosen up. I wish she was still with us today. Her YouTube is awesome, and her lessons and guidance in acceptance and continuation even when things aren't perfect are timeless. Her spirit lives on. Thank you for keeping her social media alive. Sending you and your family love and light and many thanks.
