Hi there! My name is Melanie and I’m so glad you’re here! I am the owner and operator of this website and I write all of the content. Although my mom – Mama Lisa – contributes occasionally too! Welcome to my site, Melanie Ham!
I took a beginning sewing class at Joann Fabrics back in 2007 and bought a sewing machine shortly after. I had a little extra time on my hands while I was finishing college and my husband had just joined the U.S. Army ;). I started sewing crafty stuff, just simple things, and then in 2010 I made my first quilt and have been obsessed ever since.

Around the same time, I learned to crochet while my husband was deployed since it was a craft I could travel with. I started a YouTube Channel in December of 2011 and it took off beyond my wildest dreams.
The best thing is that I can work from home and keep my family top priority. We now live in a suburb of Los Angeles where my husband and I own and operate HAMMR Productions, a service-disabled veteran-owned production company. We have been married 13 years and have 2 great kids who are 11 and 8.

Not only do I love DIY, Sewing, Quilting, Crochet, and basically all the crafty things – I am very interested in fitness and nutrition, cold brew coffee, gadgets, and tech, parenting my 2 beautiful kids, business development, personal development, home decorating, and organization.

Some businessy stats:
– Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History
– I have 900,000 YouTube subscribers and I upload crochet, sewing, quilting, DIY, and home decor-related videos each week with over 83 million lifetime views.
– Worked with many brands like Fiskars, Clover, Quiltfolk, Macy’s, Hallmark, Simplicity, Joann Fabrics, Michaels, and World Vision just to name a few.
-Present on Instagram, IG Stories, IGTV, Facebook, Twitter, and my newsletter CaliStitching which goes out to 100k subscribers twice a month. Current blog stats are available upon request.
Check out the What I Use and Love page to see all the sewing, computer, and online tools I use to run my business.

This post should have happened sometime ago. However, I find it fitting that the day after I presented my daughter with a handmade queen size quilt at her bridal shower, I thought of Melanie Ham. You see, it's because of Melanie that I rediscovered quilting during the COVID lockdown. I followed so many of her tutorials and found her positive energy made such a difference. I was not at all surprised to learn. She was a believer and I'm so thankful that today she is in the arms of Jesus and is cancer free. Thank you to the Ham for sharing Melanie with us. God bless you all

Hi Robert, we were happily surprised to see you on TV during the Super Bowl yesterday!
I miss Melanie. I learn SO much from her YouTube videos and continue to share them with my friends. I’m so inspired by her character, commitment to her family and her devotion to all of us out here who love to sew, crochet and quilt❤️.
Thank you Robert for keeping all of her YouTube videos up. Thank you for standing by her through her illness. Thank you for loving her SO much. Thank you both for sharing your journey with us. Thank you for being a great Dad and person! I look forward to all that you will continue to bring to our world❤️.

Hello, Thank you so much for your my first quilt series. It has be wonderful and so easy to follow along. I have made 4 tops and now is time for the next step. I have a question in regards to when you pin baste. My batting is extremely wrinkled when I unrolled it from the bag. Is there something I can do before attaching the safety pins? I tried smoothing it but it is still pretty wrinkled. Thank you
