What I made for Mother’s Day Part 2

Thank you so much for sharing!

My post from Friday was the potholders I made for my Mom-in-law, and today I’m going to show you what I made for my Mom.  My Mom lives in Virginia, but only for a few years, and has been adjusting to the much longer and cooler fall, winter and spring months than California has to offer which is where she lived for many years.  So, I thought she needed a crocheted afghan to put on her couch to keep cozy on cool nights.  I saw this tutorial on Little Birdie Secrets, a site with great ideas and inspiration and thought I would make that for her for Mother’s Day.

I used 8 balls of Lion Brand Homespun yarn in the color Wildfire.  I used a large speed hook and 2 strands of yarn at a time so it worked up fairly quickly and has a nice fluffy weight to it.  And I can attest to the warmth!  This blanket had me sweating while I was making it in my pregnant state in this Hawaii weather.

There is nothing like making homemade gifts.  I hope my Mom will think of me every time she cozies up with this blanket and knowing that makes me happy to make it.  It’s so much more special than a store bought blanket, although store bought gifts are fun too!
