Vintage Scrappy Tattered Flower Tutorial

Thank you so much for sharing!

I serged some cotton gauze baby swaddling blankets last weekend, so I had some strips of scrap fabric.  I thought they were really pretty and would be great for making some more fabric flowers.  Here’s how I made them!
 Aren’t they purty?

These are scraps from my cotton gauze project, but you could get a similar look with ripped up sheets or old dishcloths

First you need a little piece of felt or sturdy piece of fabric.  It needs to be roundish… you’ll be trimming it so shape is not important.  The color needs to go with your fabric because you may be able to see bits of the felt, so lime green won’t work.

The glue I like to use, its a little stringy, but strong and dries very clear

Put a dollop of glue in the center of the felt

Bunch up the end of the scrap piece of fabric

And stick it on the glue holding it there for a moment

Add some more glue, I like to go in a counter clockwise motion

Bunch, twist, gather, or whatever suits your fancy and stick it on the glue.  I chose to bunch.

Keep bunching (or twisting or gathering) and gluing

I decided to switch colors, but you don’t have to

Keep going until you are out of fabric or like the size

Wait for the glue to dry and then trim the felt as close to the fabric as you can get

 Another color variation

There it is, pretty simple huh?  Feel free to share this tutorial, just link it back here!  Thanks!
